Learn the ukulele in a day?!
Happy new year guys! I hope you have all recovered from the festive period and are throwing yourselves into the new year's resolutions with gusto. I love this time of year. A suggested hint at new beginnings and the chance for a clean slate. All the things that you've been putting off suddenly have a hope of being achieved and this fresh start is the key to that door that needed opening.
At the end of 2018 we were given a fabulous gift of a ukulele and the opportunity to learn how to play it for free! The lovely Susie at Uke in a Day gifted us this beautiful instrument and ebook to help myself and the children embrace our musical hearts in all their glory. We thought January was the perfect time to share this with you all in the hopes to inspire a new hobby in the new year.
Suzie has been a music teacher for many years and has developed a wonderful series of ebooks to help teach even the least experienced of mummy's (me) to play the ukulele in the smallest amount of time. It only took me 20 minutes to learn how to play several songs! Here is the video evidence of how simple it was. ( Included in the video is a link to a free ukulele tuner.)
The ebooks are set out in an extremely easy way to understand. They show you how to tune your ukulele and after each song, there is a lovely print out for the kids to colour in. Within moments of getting set up, I was merrily strumming along to all of the kid's favourite nursery rhymes.
After I had mastered the ukulele, both by tuning it and playing it, the kids took turns and also managed to grasp it very quickly! I never thought that it could be so quick and so much fun to learn a musical instrument. Thank you, Suzie, for bringing the gift of joy into my home.
Ukuleles are the perfect starter instrument for your children. They are inexpensive, virtually indestructible (unless you're Ozzy Osbourne) and very quick to learn. Here is a link to some fabulous starter models.
If you too would like to find out how to get involved with your children's musical education or simple play songs for the grandchildren then here is a link to the ebooks. You can also find Suzie at her website,Instagram and Facebook. She is such a kind and open lady who I am sure will happily respond to any questions you may have.
