Rainbow Book Craft

I love, love, love this book! It is such a sweet tale about embracing the difference between everyone. It illustrates through beautiful colours and shapes the wonder of how different and magnificent we all can be. Such a lovely way to show your children the concept of love, friendship and acceptance.

This story not only teaches about kindness, empathy and the joy of bringing our diverse world together but also helps little ones understand the story of shapes and colours too! Written in a simple way the shapes and colours after much debate and arguing realise that things are so much more fun when they all get together. There are so many differences between them all that there is no longer one singled out group but a whole jumble of wonderful differences.

I couldn't think of a better symbolism of this joining together than with a rainbow. All those beautiful colours together made all the more beautiful by standing strong beside one another. This is such a simple craft to illustrate such a simple yet very important point. It takes all kinds to make a world go round.

What you will need:

  1. Draw out a rainbow onto your paper.

  2. Tac it to the walls.

  3. Read the book and let your little ones create their rainbow.

It really is as simple as that. No mess, no fuss and a lovely afternoon spent discussing, reading and creating.

As with all of the crafts we share with you, we ask you to make sure that they are age appropriate for your little ones. Never leave them alone with items they can choke on or use sharp or unsafe objects during play. Stay safe little Journey Jellies.
