Happy new year guys! I hope you have all recovered from the festive period and are throwing yourselves into the new year’s resolutions with gusto. I love this time of year. A suggested hint at new beginnings and the chance for a clean slate. All the things that you’ve been putting off suddenly have a hope of being achieved and this fresh start is the key to that door that needed opening. At the end of 2018 we were given a fabulous gift of a ukulele and the opportunity to learn how to play it for free! The lovely Susie at Uke in a Day gifted us this beautiful instrument and ebook to help myself and the children embrace our musical hearts in all their glory. We thought January was the perfect time to share this with you all in the hopes to inspire a new hobby in the new year. Suzie has been a music teacher for many years and has developed a wonderful series of ebooks to help teach even the least experienced of mummy’s (me) to play the ukulele in the smallest amount of time. It only took me 20 minutes to learn how to play several […]
Happy new year! Where has this last year gone? It seems to have flown by in a whirlwind of beach trips and Harry Potter activities. We had the most fun in 2018 and we are super excited to get our teeth stuck firmly into the adventures of 2019. At the beginning of each year we like to try and get organised with our holiday dates and personal goals. I find by following a few simple steps in the beginning of the year it helps us get the most out of the months ahead. Check out our latest video to see how we go about it. (Includes links to useful resources.) We wish you all a happy and healthy 2019 full of magic and adventure.
Hello, my fellow vegan friends and curious-minded individuals. Today’s blog post is a mega treat for you and I know you will leave here feeling so very inspired to be your better selves. We have a Q&A with no other than Mr John Awen. Now, for those of you who don’t know, John is a vegan public speaker and if you haven’t already met him, I’m sure you will see him at your upcoming vegan festivals for which he will be attending many. As well as being an inspirational speaker, John is also a vegan mentor, hypnotherapist and author of four wonderful books. We met John via social media and we were simply blown away by his care for animals and his poetic way with words. He really knows how to get you thinking and if we ever need a kick up the bum to encourage the vegan message further, he’s our “go to” guy to inspire us to keep on keeping on! John has lived a very exciting life and his journey has been one of many colourful twists and turns. He has had to face many trials in his past yet he stands strong today, fuelled by the […]
This month has been an array of sunshine, colour, cuddles and fun. I’m super excited to share with you what we’ve been up to this month. However, before we do, I just wanted to say thank you for all of the amazing support you’ve shown with us on our YouTube channel. Your kindness has really touched our hearts. We have received many questions on our channel and I would just like to reiterate that I am happy to answers any queries you have regarding unschooling or home education. We will be compiling a frequently asked questions video and a section on our blog shortly so if you feel there is anything that we could cover to help yourselves or other unschooling families than please don’t hesitate to contact us. Now, without further ado, on to this months log. What did the kids learn that I didn’t teach them? Well, Fin shocked the life out of me this month by beginning to spell correctly! We are only just working on his reading at the moment but he has proved to be an absolute sponge and apparently can read a word a few times and then just remember how it’s spelt and […]
Wow! Have we had a colourful month or what?! It has been so much fun. We have had the chance to get away a lot this month and with it has brought a diverse and plentiful set of opportunities for education. There is nothing more freeing than staying in a new environment and having only a pen and paper for resources. It forces you to rely on the world around you to inspire, create and learn from. So without further ado, I bring you the answers to this month’s questions. What did the kids learn that I didn’t teach them? Well, there is so much to choose from this month. As I previously mentioned we had the chance to go away this month. We got the chance to stay in a tiny house with relatives and simply living in that environment taught us all so much. We had to practice compromise, respect, sharing and kindness. The kids learnt how to be quiet when someone was sleeping or working, they learnt to share what small amount of things they had and adapted to the new sounds of the nighttime world around them. Aside from all of these compassionate moments they learnt […]
