Happy new year! Where has this last year gone? It seems to have flown by in a whirlwind of beach trips and Harry Potter activities. We had the most fun in 2018 and we are super excited to get our teeth stuck firmly into the adventures of 2019. At the beginning of each year we like to try and get organised with our holiday dates and personal goals. I find by following a few simple steps in the beginning of the year it helps us get the most out of the months ahead. Check out our latest video to see how we go about it. (Includes links to useful resources.) We wish you all a happy and healthy 2019 full of magic and adventure.
Well howdy folks! It’s Daddy Journey here for the first time. Now, writing is not my thing at all, I’m usually behind the camera and I’m very happy there but for today’s blog post I thought I’d put the proverbial pen to paper and write a little bit about the following photos and how you too can do something similar at home. I’m pretty lucky that over the years I have collected a pretty decent amount of photo gear (thanks Matt!) and it has helped me to create these professional looking photos but you can easily do something similar yourself with just a point and shoot camera or even a smartphone. All you need is a cool background, a camera with flash, some props and something to put your camera on so you can be hands-free. We used a bright yellow photography backdrop but you can use a blank wall in our outside your home, a curtain, or even a bedsheet stuck to the wall to provide a simple background which will help you pop out and be the centre of attention. Once you have a suitable background you can then set up your camera. For this part, I would […]
I can’t believe that it’s this time of year again already! I have welcomed the change of season with an open heart but still have to pinch myself when I see the shops filling up with Halloween and even Christmas items? Don’t get me wrong, I love the festive seasons as much as the next person but things seem to move so fast nowadays. I guess I’m still holding on to the thoughts of summer drinks and floaty lilos! We’ve never really been big Halloween fans in our household. Even as a child I don’t think I had the urge to follow tradition and go trick or treating. Both of our two are scared of all of the spooky costumes hanging up at the local shops so I know they aren’t bothered about that side of things either. However, each year they do get caught up in the excitement of the event and ask to do something to mark the occasion. This usually comes in the form of a Halloween tea party and games and this year is no exception. So, we have started our planning and you will be drip fed all of our lovely craft ideas over the […]
“Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better”Albert Einstein. It wasn’t an intentional thing but somehow we seem to have been pulled towards nature this month. Maybe it was the need to retreat away from the busy school holidays or maybe it was the simplicity and calm that called us. Either way, we have had some of the most beautiful and relaxing family days. When you are submerged into nature you can’t help but feel peaceful and grateful for the world around you. It encourages you to move your body, breath in fresh air and spend quality time with your family. Its nourishing in a way I never really understood before. A true tonic to the crazy days of busy family life. Everything seems a little clearer after a spell outdoors. What did the kids learn that I didn’t teach them? Fin has really taken it upon himself to learn how to spell. I would say he’s doing it all on his own because he is the one who has the drive and is the one asking the questions but of course, we are involved in helping him learn correctly. (Although it has been so much fun […]
What a summer we are having! It is probably common knowledge that here in the U.K. it can be a bit hit and miss on the sunny day stakes but boy, oh boy have we been blessed with one long hot summer or what?! July has been a delightful mix of sandy toes, salty hair and ice cream kisses. Shall we begin? What did the kids learn that I didn’t teach them? Pops came out with a gem the other day. She said “Mummy, did you know that a starfish isn’t really a fish because it doesn’t have gills, fins or a backbone?” I picked my jaw up off the floor and looked suitably proud and impressed by her vast and ever-growing animal knowledge. Fin has started singing! It is the cutest, off-key sound you’ll ever hear. It literally melts my heart to hear him. He has now taught himself all the words to all of the songs on the Moana soundtrack and performs it with joy and gusto. What did the kids teach me that I didn’t already know? Pops taught me that some lipsticks contain fish bones! From being vegan I knew to avoid some makeup products due […]
Hello, my fellow vegan friends and curious-minded individuals. Today’s blog post is a mega treat for you and I know you will leave here feeling so very inspired to be your better selves. We have a Q&A with no other than Mr John Awen. Now, for those of you who don’t know, John is a vegan public speaker and if you haven’t already met him, I’m sure you will see him at your upcoming vegan festivals for which he will be attending many. As well as being an inspirational speaker, John is also a vegan mentor, hypnotherapist and author of four wonderful books. We met John via social media and we were simply blown away by his care for animals and his poetic way with words. He really knows how to get you thinking and if we ever need a kick up the bum to encourage the vegan message further, he’s our “go to” guy to inspire us to keep on keeping on! John has lived a very exciting life and his journey has been one of many colourful twists and turns. He has had to face many trials in his past yet he stands strong today, fuelled by the […]
