The best ever play dough recipe!
This recipe will leave you with taste safe, affordable, shiny and stretchy play dough that will last months.
- 2 cups plain flour
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup salt
- 2 tbsp cream of tartar
- 1 cup boiling water
- few drops glycerine optional
- Food colouring
- essential oils
- dried flowers
Create a dry bowl and a wet bowl.
Pop the flour, salt and cream of tartar in the dry bowl.
Pop the water, coconut oil and glycerine in the wet bowl.
If adding food colouring then pop it into the wet bowl. If adding glitter or spices then pop them into the dry bowl.
Combine both bowls together and stir with a wooden spoon until cool enough to massage. (It will be hot for a while so be careful.)
If your dough is too dry then add a few tablespoons of extra water at a time until you achieve the perfect consistency.
Massage your dough until it is soft and elastic.
Keep clingfilmed or covered in a container in the fridge when not in use.
It should last up to four months but if it has loose parts added in it may deteriorate sooner. (Always check the dough before giving it to children to play with.)
Always check the state of the dough before giving it to children to play with.
There is literally no end to the play that you can get from play dough. Whether they’re a cafe owner, an engineer, a robot manufacturer or simply after a relaxing sensory spa session then there will be a play dough out there to support your child’s magical world of imaginative play. Enjoy!!
