Ever have those mornings when you feel you have to make a decision between shower or breakfast? I am all for trying to save time in the mornings but never at the expense of breaking my fast, hell no! I hold breakfast on such a high pedestal that I will happily have breakfast for dinner any night of the week. I really do believe the saying that it’s the most important meal of the day.
I feel the kids are more experimental with their meals first thing as they are so hungry and with a good filling breakfast to start the day you have all the energy you need to get through the morning to lunch. Let’s face it though, some days you just don’t have time to watch the kids play catapult the blueberries or eat their toast in nibbles. You need them fed and out of their pyjamas (preferably) and on your merry way to this appointment or that. This is the moment that a smoothie comes in handy. They are so quick to make and if you’re really pressed for time, you can even take it with you!
A drink for breakfast I hear you cry? Well, let me tell you, my friends, this is not merely a drink nor a smoothie but a full-on, all in one breakfast smoothie that will fill you full of energy and nutrition!
All in one breakfast smoothie
Ingredients/equipment serves 1 adult (or 2 kids)
- You’ll need a decent high-speed blender to work through the frozen fruits. (This is the one we use.)
- Jars for serving
- 1 cup frozen berries
- 1 large banana
- 1 tbs flax seed
- 1 tbs cashew butter (this one is so yummy!)
- 2 tbs oats
- Top with coconut milk
Bung it all in the blender (we use this one and I couldn’t live without it!) and whizz until thick and creamy. Enjoy!
Now you know you don’t have to forfeit that shower in the morning again! Ablutions done? Check! All in one breakfast smoothie made? Check! Rock it out as super mum? Working on it!!
